27th June 1982

By 1982, Nationals were regulars on the evening and Sunday Tredegars
(give or take the occasional appearence by a coach). This caught my
father out one Sunday night. He was going to conduct a service in
Ystrad Mynach and went to catch the 36 – which turned out to be a
Duple Dominant Leopard coach – which he let go by as he wasn’t
expecting it. He had to come home, ring the church secretary, get
another bus into Caerphilly and get the Nelson or the Bargoed bus
instead.

One this day 212 was the first leg of a journey which would take me by
train to Amerongen (near Utrecht) via the Harwich – Hook of Holland
overnight ferry. Yes, I know Caerphilly has trains as well, but I had
a rucksack and sleeping bag with me – and the 36 bus stop was nearer
the house!
